Filament Winding Software & G-Code Generator
guiFW turns your mandrel, material and machine data into ready-to-run G-code for filament winding machines. Design layers, simulate the trajectory and send the program to your CNC, all from the browser.

How guiFW generates filament winding G-code
1. Material
Register fiber, resin and catalyst with a bill of materials. guiFW calculates roving and resin consumption for each layer.
2. Mandrel
Choose a tube, conical or capsule mandrel and enter its diameters and lengths. The sketch updates as you type.
3. Machine & payout eye
Start from a ready template (Kollmorgen, Mach3, LinuxCNC, TexComputer), set axis limits, speeds and band width.
4. Program
Stack helical and hoop layers with angle, thickness and ramps, simulate the path and export the G-code file.

Built for real filament winding machines
- Configurable post-processor: headers, subprograms, motion lines and footers in your controller's syntax.
- Output as .nc, .tap, .txt or .pgm, in metric or imperial units.
- G-code smoothing and line reduction for smoother carriage motion.
- Axis table with limits for mandrel rotation, carriage travel, mandrel approach and payout inclination.
- Send programs straight to the CNC via FTP (Starter plan and above).
Production cost and structural calculation
Know what each part costs and whether it holds the load before you wind it.
Production cost calculator Free
Choose a product and guiFW loads the raw material its CNC program consumes and the machine time calculated from its G-code. Add labour and your rates to get the cost per part and per batch, or type the data in for any part.
- Raw material by layer: fiber, resin and additives
- Machine time and machine hourly rate
- Labour by operation: mandrel preparation, winding, curing and finishing
Structural calculation for poles and pipes
Check the laminate of the CNC program before producing it, with a calculation report for each revision.
- Poles: deflection under load, by laminate theory and Timoshenko beam
- Pipes: internal pressure and ring stiffness
Tanks: production of the shell by filament winding, with the manufacturing process of the bottom detailed step by step.
Applications

Pressure vessels & tanks
Composite cylinders and tanks with domed ends.

Poles
Tapered GRP poles for power distribution and lighting.

Pipes & tubes
GRP pipes for water, sanitation and industry.
Frequently asked questions
What is filament winding?
Filament winding is a composite manufacturing process in which resin-impregnated fibers are wound over a rotating mandrel along a controlled path, producing pipes, tanks, pressure vessels and poles.
Which machines does guiFW work with?
Any CNC filament winding machine that reads G-code. Templates are included for Fagor, Sinumerik, Kollmorgen, Mach3, LinuxCNC and TexComputer controllers, and the post-processor can be adapted to others.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes one machine, one mandrel, one payout eye and G-code for cylinders. See all plans on the pricing page.
How much does the production cost calculator cost?
Nothing. It is free in every plan, including the Free plan.
